The Knowlton Complex is comprised of multiple buildings, including the Charles D. Lindberg Stadium, the Ken Anderson Academic All-America Club, the Players’ Plaza and Viking Patio and Overlook. The 1,800-seat stadium includes a press box and team rooms. Spectators can watch the game from the patio and overlook, or the club, where TVs and concessions are located. The project was a success despite several scheduling delays caused by torrential spring rains and a labor strike. There was a firm completion date set by Augustana and collaboration between the college, designer, contractors, suppliers and the City of Rock Island made meeting the phase one deadline possible. Completing the club area and bleachers were the top priorities of phase one. Other areas of the stadium were still under construction on opening day, but subcontractors meticulously cleaned their areas and made them presentable on game day.
