Director of Human Resources – Davenport, IA

Tri-City Electric Co. is currently seeking a Director of Human Resources for an opening in Davenport, IA.  The Director of Human Resources will be directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the Human Resource function.

Main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Annually reviewing and making recommendations to Executive Management for improvement of company’s policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters
  • Maintaining knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and insurance of company’s compliance
  • Responsibility for company’s compliance with Federal and State legislation pertaining to all personnel matters
  • Communicating changes in company personnel policies and procedures to ensure compliance is followed
  • Assisting Executive Management in the review, preparation and administration of the performance management system
  • Coordinating and/or conducting exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation
  • Consulting with legal counsel as appropriate, and/or as directed by Executive Management on personnel matters
  • Working directly with division managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters
  • Recommending, evaluating, and participating in staff development
  • Developing and maintaining a human resources system that meets company personnel information needs
  • Supervising the staff of the Human Resources department
  • Participating on committees and special projects
  • Responsibility for employee relations and coaching
  • Managing all employee benefits; including health, dental, flex, life, AD&D, STD, LTD and 401K
  • Conducting orientation and onboarding of all new hires
  • Maintaining all FMLA reporting and tracking
  • Acting as liaison between Executive Management and staff
  • Planning and organizing company events and promoting employee engagement
  • Responsibility for staff recruitment and retention
  • Reviewing unemployment claims and appeals and participating in the unemployment hearings
  • Maintaining and filing all required reporting; including Vets 100, EEO, and DOT reports
  • Developing and maintaining staff job descriptions
  • Understanding and interpreting various union contract agreements
  • Sustaining reporting for staff paid-time-off
  • Responding to employment verifications, submitting drug screens, MVR reports, and background checks
  • Participating in company’s strategic plan development and implementation
  • Responsibility for disciplinary action and terminations

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or Management, 5+years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of years and experience.  A PHR, SHRM-CP and experience working with a union is preferred but not required.  Qualified candidates should have strong communication, consultation, and organizational skills, the ability to problem solve and evaluate, and professional business acumen.  All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen and reference check.  Tri-City Electric Co. is an equal opportunity employer.
