The City of Clive has a new 44,818 SF public safety facility in the heart of the city. The building will service the Fire Department, Police Department, and EMS for the city. The fire department has new sleeping quarters, open office spaces, personal offices, conference rooms, training rooms, dining, and an apparatus bay with mezzanine for training and vehicle storage. The police department has a new police garage, storage, booking, armory, offices, forensics, training, and squad parking. The facility is equipped with a 1200 amp backup generator, a fully addressable fire detection system, along with LED lighting and lighting controls. Our Technology teams installed a state-of-the-art Audio Visual system, an Avigilon Video Surveillance and Access Control System, along with over 8 miles of Cat 6 network cabling throughout along with a Locution System – a fire station alerting solution.  This project incorporated a number of sustainable strategies to promote energy savings and reduce facility life cycle costs. One of the strategies included a 131.04kW Ballasted rooftop solar array that will produce on average a 169,000kwh’s per year. The new system consists of 292 solar panels feeding one 100kw Inverter to reduce energy costs. Tri-City Electric Co. worked closely with the owners and the construction team to provide a project schedule defining the design, procurement, and construction of the project, along with a detailed execution plan.
