Facing numerous challenges due to restricted space that impacted police officers’ ability to work and train, the Rock Island PD committed to a new $22 million, 55,000 sf department building that offered twice the space of its predecessor. The new facility will help more than 110 officers better serve their community and colleagues moving forward. New spaces include an advanced dispatch center, extensive video walls and dedicated defense training spaces which is something the previous facility lacked. The new space also offers break rooms for staff and new ways for officers to transfer suspects into custody between vehicles and the facility.
“The new police department has helped us to become a much more professional and efficient agency – it was a resource the City of Rock Island definitely needed. The team did an exceptional job understanding our needs, working with us through different possibilities and made sure the entire process was streamlined and efficient. They were a dynamic team and they did an excellent job.” – Chief of Police Jeff VenHuizen
