The University of Iowa’s new Health Sciences Academic Building is a modern facility built to support the next generation of health science education and research, and the Tri-City Group played a key role.
The Tri-City Technologies team installed a building-wide Cat6A network for data outlets, wireless access points, and cameras, connected by a single-mode fiber backbone linking telecom rooms, the fire alarm control panel, and key mechanical spaces throughout the building. An ERRCS system rounds out emergency responder communications, complete with a donor antenna, signal repeater, and battery backup, and post-installation testing confirmed strong coverage building-wide. An emergency two-way communication system adds another layer of protection for building occupants.
Tri-City Fire Protection handled the fire protection scope, installing an electric fire pump, three standpipes, and zone controls at the center stairwell on each floor, along with both wet and dry sprinkler systems throughout the building.
The Tri-City Group worked closely with the owners and the construction team to provide a project schedule defining the design, procurement, and construction of the project, along with a detailed execution plan. Our team is proud to have contributed to a facility that will help shape the future of health sciences education at the University of Iowa.
