The Bettendorf YMCA Water Park at The Landing is a community development project located in Bettendorf, Iowa, designed to provide year-round recreational opportunities for Quad City area residents. The facility encompasses a state-of-the-art aquatic center and a permanent ice rink, with construction divided into two phases.
Phase 1: Aquatic Center and Support Buildings
The first phase introduced a 12,500-square-foot activity pool featuring zero-depth entry, spray features, lap lanes, a diving well with two diving boards, and two climbing walls. Additionally, four support buildings were constructed:
- Building A: Houses showers, locker rooms, and restrooms.
- Building B: Serves as a community warming room with a fireplace and ice skate rental.
- Building C: Includes the concession stand, ticket booth, and office area.
- Building D: Contains all pool equipment and pumps.
Phase 2: Water Features and Ice Rink
The second phase added a three-story slide tower with three slides, a 430-foot-long lazy river, and a 3,700-square-foot splash pad. The ice rink, known as the Frozen Landing, is set to replace the city’s temporary ice rink. Tri-City Electric played a pivotal role in the electrical construction of The Landing, ensuring the facility’s electrical infrastructure met the demands of its diverse amenities. Tri-City Electric collaborated closely with Treiber Construction, who was responsible for all concrete work around the pool and the exterior of the buildings, contributing to the project’s structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. The facility stands as a testament to collaborative efforts in community development and will serve as a premier recreational destination for the Bettendorf community, offering both aquatic and ice-skating experiences year-round. The Tri-City Group worked closely with the owners and the construction team to provide a project schedule defining the design, procurement, and construction of the project, along with a detailed execution plan.
